Siri & Automation
MacOSCleaner exposes its cleanup capabilities through App Intents, making them available to Siri, Shortcuts, and Automator.
Removes Xcode, package manager, and Docker caches.
"Clean developer caches in [MacOSCleaner]"
Parameters: target component (Xcode, Package Managers, Docker, All), Confirm Deletion, Dry Run Mode.
Cleans a specific category:
"Clean files in [MacOSCleaner]"
Supported categories: App Caches, System Caches, User Logs, Xcode, Browser Caches, Orphaned Remnants, Time Machine Snapshots, Large Files. Parameters: Confirm Deletion, Dry Run Mode.
Reports free and used disk space, plus Trash size:
"Get storage status in [MacOSCleaner]"
A restricted cleanup for unattended use:
"Run scheduled cleanup in [MacOSCleaner]"
- Runs only safe categories (app caches, user logs, system caches, browser caches)
- Has a
dryRunparameter to preview what would be cleaned - Never runs orphan detection or any heuristic uninstall logic unattended
- Trash is not emptied
- No confirmation dialog is shown; the intent runs silently with the configured safe categories
Empties the macOS Trash:
"Empty Trash in [MacOSCleaner]"
Parameters: Confirm Deletion, Dry Run Mode. Permanently empties the entire macOS Trash.
All mutating intents (CleanDeveloperCachesIntent, CleanCategoryIntent, RunScheduledCleanupIntent, EmptyTrashIntent) declare .requiresAuthentication — the system asks for your password or biometrics before running them.
In Settings → Automation:
- Siri / Shortcuts / Automator — enable all commands with one toggle; a button opens the Shortcuts app
- Per-command toggles to enable or disable individual commands
- Custom Siri Commands — add your own phrases; define the command, arguments, and whether it needs confirmation
- Apple Intelligence — toggle AI explanations with a model readiness status and refresh control (see Apple Intelligence)
Each command runs the real cleanup engine with the same safety rules as the UI: dangerous categories are excluded from automatic runs, and deletions go to Trash. Confirmation is requested for commands that modify the system, unless the custom command is defined without it.
