Merge timing (read this first)

Everything stays in this PR. Split is about when it is safe to merge, not about splitting the diff.

This branch includes origin/master at d8342c825 (PR #122). Conflict resolution kept #122's update_aur_pkgbuild per-arch hash rewrite and the verified 0.5.1 checksums, plus this PR's VARVE_GITHUB_REPOSITORY precedence, slug validation, and K-Arthur source_* host.

Safe to merge before transfer

These keep working while the repo is still K-Arthur/varve:

  • Owner-agnostic release tooling. repoSlug() / update-packaging.sh / release.yml ${{ github.repository }} / --repo flags. They follow VARVE_GITHUB_REPOSITORY then GITHUB_REPOSITORY then origin, and reject malformed slugs.
  • Published / reachable GitHub URLs that stay on K-Arthur/varve. Changelog v0.5.0 / v0.2.1 history links, README release badge + v0.5.0 tag link, AUR source_* / _gh_release, AppStream bugtracker / vcs-browser (required by appstreamcli --pedantic), metainfo historical <release> detail URLs, live stable.json / release-manifest.json / model catalog.
  • hostedReleaseUrl.ts default to the published model-release owner (override via env).

Merge only after transfer (or accept 404s until then)

These already point at varvedesign/varve and 404 until GitHub actually moves the repo:

  • Current-facing clone / contact / website / issue-template / footer / docs links (VARVE_URLS.repository, package.json repository, website pages, README CI badge)
  • Changelog hero/footer “GitHub releases” buttons (not the per-version history links)
  • license.astro LICENSE / TRADEMARKS / mixed-license links (/blob/master/ on the new owner)
  • AUR url= homepage (download source_* stay on K-Arthur)

Do not merge this into a process that rewrites stable.json or release-manifest.json for 0.5.x.

Summary

Prepares this repository for transfer to the varvedesign GitHub org (varvedesign/varve; name unchanged).

CI on de68841a2 (reported)

  • CI / Pipeline validation (workflow + SHA pins) failed: linux-package-metadata.test.mjs → appstreamcli validate --pedantic reported url-not-reachable for https://github.com/varvedesign/varve and /issues (org repo does not exist yet).
  • CI / certification failed as a consequence: pipeline-validate concluded failure, so selected rust/js/e2e/wasm jobs were skipped and receipts were missing. Not a separate defect.
  • Other checks on that SHA were green (Change lanes, AI attribution, CodeQL, WASM build, Lighthouse, Ubuntu package build).

Fix pushed: AppStream bugtracker and VCS URLs restored to K-Arthur/varve so appstreamcli can reach them before transfer.

Remaining K-Arthur/varve (intentional)

Release tooling is owner-agnostic. Still named on purpose: published tags/assets, AppStream URLs (reachable now), test fixtures, historical docs, FUNDING/copyright, Hugging Face varve-ddcolor-onnx.

Validation

Transfer-time checklist

  1. Transfer K-Arthur/varve → org varvedesign.
  2. Confirm GitHub redirects including AppStream bugtracker/VCS URLs.
  3. After transfer, optionally retarget AppStream URLs and AUR _gh_release at varvedesign/varve on the next release.
  4. Do not rewrite stable.json platform URLs for 0.5.x.

Release scripts and the updater-feed workflow now take owner/repo from
GITHUB_REPOSITORY, an explicit override, or the git remote so they work
under either owner. Current-facing clone, contact, packaging, and website
links point at varvedesign/varve. Published 0.5.x download URLs, the live
updater feed, copyright/publisher text, and FUNDING.yml are unchanged.

Historical tag/download links (changelog v0.5.0/v0.2.1, README release
badge, AUR source_* URLs) stay on the owner that published them.
Release tooling now prefers VARVE_GITHUB_REPOSITORY over
GITHUB_REPOSITORY and rejects malformed owner/repo slugs.
Keep #122's per-arch AUR hash rewrite and verified 0.5.1 checksums.
Keep VARVE_GITHUB_REPOSITORY precedence, slug validation, and the
K-Arthur source_* host for published 0.5.1 AppImages.
appstreamcli --pedantic failed in pipeline-validate because
github.com/varvedesign/varve is unreachable until the transfer.
GitHub will redirect these URLs after the move.
