Which icon set is Dawn using?

I'm building a custom theme based on Dawn, and I'd like to extend the icon assets with some new icons. I couldn't figure out which icon set is used. Is Dawn using completely custom icons?

As far as I can tell, they're custom. There's no credit to a third-party icon library anywhere in the repo. The icons also don't share a grid: most use a 20×20 viewBox, but some, like icon-cart.svg, use 40×40.

Adding your own

1. Save the SVG as assets/icon-your-name.svg. Use fill="currentColor" so it picks up the theme colours, and a 0 0 20 20 viewBox so it sits in line with the rest.
2. Render it with:

   {{ 'icon-your-name.svg' | inline_asset_content }}

3. If you want it selectable in the theme editor for collapsible content or icon-with-text blocks, add a your_name option to that section's icon select setting. snippets/icon-accordion.liquid converts your_name to icon-your-name.svg automatically.

Where to get matching icons

Shopify's own Polaris Icons are the closest match. They're drawn on the same 20×20 grid, so they drop in at the right size. You can copy SVGs from the site or install @shopify/polaris-icons, which includes raw files in dist/svg.

Check the license before using them. It limits use to projects that "integrate or interoperate with Shopify software or services", which a Shopify theme does, but it's worth reading if you plan to sell the theme.
