Lagging and DAW hang on Linux - possible cause and solution

Previous(long time ago) I reported that the ZL EQ make my DAW lagging and in the end stop functioning. The only plugin that caused this was the ZL EQ and ZL EQ 2, especially the vst3 versions. I have many hundred plugins not doing any harm. For a long time I have struggled with the EQ window not showing everything, missing eg the lover part of the knobs in the bottom of the window. So the plugin window was out of bound with the actual window. Deleting the UI.xml file did not fix this. If I opened the panel where you change color, refresh rate etc the 'save' and 'exit' button was hidden below the actual window. Playing around with the window to get the save and exit button visible, everything suddenly felt in place for some reason. It was nice to see all the buttons, but the best part is that the lagging and crashing my DAW seems to be gone.

Resizing the window is still not possible though, but that goes for many other plugins as well.

I am glad that it finally works :)

Deleting the UI.xml file did not fix this.

It is possible there are two ui.xml (one from a older version). And to reset all UI settings, you need to delete two of them (when project is closed). One is under ~/.config/Audio/Presets/ZL/ZL Equalizer 2 and one is under ~/.config/ZL Audio/ZL Equalizer 2.

Resizing the window is still not possible though

Are you able to see the small dragger at the bottom right? What would happen if you press and drag it?

Woow. Now we are talking. Resizing now works.

It seems to be some sort of conflict between the resizing the .lv2 and the .vst3 though. When I first resized the .vst3 it functioned great, opening the .lv2 version it seems to inherit the window size of the .vst3 that do not fit the .lv2 EQ size window and resizing laid boundary on the ability to resize the .vst3. This is not a problem because I'm only go to use the .vst3.

The AV2 version runs great, my transport now move smoothly so does all meters in my DAW, so it's truly a performance increase.

Tried to compile the sorce and the build process exited with this error messages: clang++: error: linker command failed with exit code 1

I think you told me long time ago to remove an option in the linkage phase to get rid of this error. Anyway I'll use the prebuild ones, so this was only to test if it was possible to compile it on (K)ubuntu 26.04

Great. If VST3 works for you then use that :) VST3 also has some special features in some DAWs, like context menu window.

Unfortunately I cannot debug building on 26.04 at the moment. But the pre-built ones should remain workable in the future, as long as you keep upgrading your OS.

No problem, I'm standardizing on .VST3, I only mentioned it so you are aware of it.

No, problem not compiling from source either, as long as the .DEB packages function, I use them.
