Follow compass heading given by companion computer (via MSP)
#7158
I am working on a university competition where we will launch a small flying wing glider from a rocket. The flying wing has a camera onboard (run by a Raspberry Pi companion computer) which it will use for navigation. There is no GPS (only a compass), and the navigation is fully visual. The Raspberry Pi will analyse the images taken directly below the glider and will calculate a heading in degrees to the predetermined landing zone which will be some distance away.
The Raspberry Pi is talking to a Matek F411-Wing over serial, and the compass is via I2C.
What I would like to do is pass the heading from the Raspberry Pi to the Matek, and then have the Matek hold that course until the next heading gets calculated. I have come across a few MSP commands such as MSP_SET_HEAD and flightMode = "CRS", but could I ask if anyone has done this before, and if so any thoughts?
An alternative could be to send servo commands over MSP instead, but I figured just having the Matek deal with turning and heading hold would be easier.
I am compiling INAV with the USE_MSP_RC_OVERRIDE so we can override with RC if glider is headed in wrong direction.

Thank you for INAV, it is amazing!
