The prompts used to build Bot Battle
live with Claude Code, following the /project-protocol skill. They were
dictated, so they've been lightly tidied to fix transcription errors.
Show me, in short bullet points, the steps in the project protocol.
I'd like to work on a project that's a battle of bots. The way it would work is that you'd have a grid, say a 10×10 grid, and you have bots. Each bot is defined by a function that gives it its rules, and each bot can do things like move up, down, left, or right by one square, attack a bot if it's in a neighbouring square, or do nothing, for example. We might come up with some other ideas of what we want it to do. Each bot starts with three lives, or hit points, or whatever you want to call them, and of course each time it's hit, it loses a point. When it gets to zero, it's out. The idea is that whoever's left at the end is the winner.
Could we also have users submit their own bots through a PR? Each bot is going to be a function that defines the rules of how the bot behaves.
I'd also like to be able to visualise this. I don't want any fancy visualisation, so text on the terminal screen is good enough, but I'd like to be able to visualise a match: seeing the bots move, then disappear as they lose, and seeing how many hit points they have. Can we add that to our requirements, please?
Never mind the time, I'll manage the time. Can you come up with a plan, and we'll take it from there? So this is the second stage of the project.
Yes, start the plan review.
Keep Unit 6 with you, and keep the other defaults.
Go, approve the plan and start Unit 1.
Go ahead with Unit 2.
Go ahead with Unit 3.
Go ahead with Unit 4.
Go ahead with Unit 5.
Before going ahead with Unit 6: you were using strings like
"wait". Is that the best practice, or could we do something a bit more robust?
Yes, Unit 6 first, then the
StrEnumfix.
Show me how to run the animation.
Go ahead with Unit 7.
Go ahead with Unit 8.
