Hi @deepumdev Thank you for your message and sorry for our latency.
Yes it can, the former SOFA GUI was a Qt-based application
Yes it can, SOFA can indeed merge soft and rigid bodies.
Best is to provide 3D volumetric meshes to SOFA, coming from a prior meshing tool
Yes topological changes are supported in SOFA. Several of our industrial partners (InfinyTech3D, InSimo) are experts of this field. Hope this helps. |

Dear SOFA Team,
I am developing a software application for surgery planning, and I’m considering using SOFA for simulating soft tissue deformation in response to bone manipulations. My technology stack is Qt (for GUI), C++, and VTK (for 3D visualization).
My input data consists of DICOM slices (CT scans), from which I reconstruct bone and soft tissue surfaces/volumes. I plan to allow surgeons to cut and reposition bones, and then visualize how soft tissues deform accordingly.
Before committing to SOFA, I would like to confirm the following:
Your feedback will help me decide whether SOFA is the right fit for this use case. Thank you very much for your support.
