VibeNVR on Raspberry Pi 4 8GB RAM works fine

I tested several different NVR's on Raspberry PI 4. VibeNVR performs best of all so far. I used SQLite db, Just 1 Tapo camera with stream2 (1080p) and 5fps recording passtrough. 15fps works as well.

I need to figure out why storage profile /storage/ssd is not used while defined for the camera. The volume is there as I could create a text file using terminal access to the container. The text file showed up in my Raspberryp Nautilus file browser...

I need to figure out why the used AI settings do not show some tag in recordings listed on the timeline. Tags like car, person, ... ♧ Done!

My first impression was that it might not be implemented yet, but it is!.
I had setting OpenCVS, but in the dropdown box AI option is available and a new tab appears to set object filters, threshold, track objects accross frames..prima.

I use overlay text with size 1. The shown text in the live view and recordings is pretty large. Size one created text that are about twice as big as the camera date and time on the 1080p size.
Maybe the fixed font is already large on size 1???
I cannot decrease it anymore or position the too large text elsewhere (left top and right bottom only). I leave it away at this moment.

Sometimes the drawn motion zones are not drawn (when accessing motion menu of Camera settings). As soon as I click on the drawing part (a green dot becones visible) then all existing zones suddenly appear. Browser Refresh (Firefox) does not solve it I discovered. A click hereafter Clear to make the zones stay on the screen and erase the green dot to prevent a new zone.

VibeNVR is a very intuitive NVR and not too complicated in usage/configuration.

The SQLite db is great and rock solid and excellent for small devices (no large footprint).

I played quite some time. Rock solid, I had only one crash when I changed on the fly from stream2 to stream8, which I hadn't ever tried, probably a new added feature that I was not aware of. The engine crashed and restarted automatically. Live view stayed black(dark grey was better describing it as it looks there was a stream).

Hi Allessandro, I just had shut all down. Maybe later this week I find some time to do that. As we prepare for holiday coming 3wks and this week is pretty fully booked it will take longer. For me it is not yet important as an app on my android shows also a grey screen. It looks that this feature is not (yet) implemented on my Tapo. I do have a wireless Tapo camera, maybe the switch from stream1 .mp4 to stream8 .mpeg caused too long.. my five cents. I tried two times and both times the browser showed such error which was automatically corrected! Very cool! I really admire your (and others) work. Really surprisingly high quality of what has been created. The OpenCVS, Onvif Edge and AI modes work also nice . So easy to configure!! I used Frigate, AgentDVR and a few others. Frigate and AgentDVR are still on my Raspberry (dormant state). I tried with Nginx Proxy Manager. Had some issue until I used the compose file published on the Nginx Proxy Manager. I probably made a configbmistake by adding it to the same network of VibeNVR. I use http only as it is not exposed to the public internet, only in my LAN. I access my homelan secured via Wireguard VPN and can then view all stuff without issues. You created a very state of the art NVR. You may be proud on that! In my IT career which started in 1981 I have worked plenty with open source. Python version 1.2 or 1.3 was first open source and still my favourite language. I learned it myself. Python was invented by Dutchman Guido van Rossum in Amsterdam. I am now several years with pension, since 2021...but still interested in IT although very limited I have to say as other hobbies get now priority.... this is already an exception as I got curious about VibeNVR Take care.. Allessandro, Before leaving I had some time to do the test. I have the logs attached. All logs are from one session today (deleted all logs before startup. Some observations: - Startup was with stream8. Live view was visible. I saw text like ".... polling a left uppercorner - During (stream) switching to stream 1 and 2 no live stream visible. Reconnect camera solved it. Sometimes I switched (better is I edited and applied, saved parameters) while connected and sometimes without a connection. - switch between stream1 and stream2 always goes fine (when a live view was visible of course) - All issues happen when I switch from stream8 to another stream afaik. Looks to me like an ffmpeg issue that gets into problems when switching betwen formats mpeg to mp4 (just my thoughts at this moment). After crash a restart worked fine with live view where stream 1 and 2 work, stream8 live view shows contineous the looping circle as if waiting for a reconnection to Tapo camera. After a restart of all containers (setting on stream8) still looping, which looks to me as if the first stream8 session to the Tapo has not been disconnected properly. Maybe a timeout /reset done by Tapo after a (long) solves it and then I see a live stream8. To check this I rebooted my Tapo and then reconnected with setting stream8. But still looping. Switched to another browser. Still looping. Restarted all containers...still no stream8 live view.. Looks to me indeed an open session issue ... I give up. However, tapo has a system that, if you open too many sessions or if you enter the wrong password too many times, they go into a sort of IP ban and therefore you have to restart them for everything to work.

That could be an explanation: too many open sessions (password was once correctly provided and therefore cannot be the issue). Anyhow stream 8 is not important for me given the poor quality. Mail attachments, notifications etc work all fine. What I do not understand is the storage/ssd as I was never able to get that working. For me not yet important as I store it in on a USB connected disk at the moment. Remote disk storagewould be fine.. Maybe using (s)ftp even with a simple automated task (with options to move or copy recorded files). Python supports (s)ftp. That could be a cheap solution to save videos externally (sftp) or within your private LAN (ftp) on a different location then where the server runs... That gives extra protection against burglers that take your server/raspberry... :-). sftp is pretty stable cross various operation systems. SMB or WeDav are more complex to setup for many users. Via private VPN like wireguard is another option to secure transport between two connected systems, but that can always be added by users themselves. Take care. I'll check out the external storage thing, but I don't plan on supporting ftp or webdav yet.
