Hi there 👋 I'm Jason

I'm a senior web developer at UC Santa Cruz Communications & Marketing, based in Santa Cruz, CA. I've worked with too many frameworks to list, but mostly WordPress.

  • 🔭 Currently working on: WordPress block themes, custom blocks, and site-specific "core functionality" plugins
  • 🌱 Currently exploring: the WordPress Interactivity API, static sites with Eleventy, and AI-assisted development workflows
  • 🏠 Off the clock: tinkering with my homelab (Home Assistant, AdGuard Home, and friends)
  • 🌐 Website: jasonchafin.com

🛠️ Tools I reach for

WordPress PHP JavaScript React Vue Sass Eleventy Jekyll Docker

📌 Some things I've built

Project What it is
blackbird-playground Sandbox plugin for WordPress development
blackbird-content-blocks A plugin bundling multiple custom Gutenberg blocks
site-wordpress Local WordPress dev environment using wp-env, with themes and plugins mapped from outside folders
casaluna-block-theme Block theme for Casa Luna in Yelapa, Jalisco, MX
rcid-block-theme Block theme for Ruth Chafin Interior Design
jc-eleventy My personal Eleventy site, with comments via utterances
