fix(storage): type upload options, let authorize grant context - #1044
Conversation
R2BindingUploadStorageOptions omitted metaStorage with a plain Omit over
BaseStorageOptions, whose [key: string]: unknown index signature made
every declared option unknown. It now strips the index signature first,
so allowMIME, filename, onCreate, ... keep their types, callback params
are typed, and unknown keys are refused.
createUploadHandler's authorize may now return a Response, answered as
is (a 429 with Retry-After, say), or a { context } grant. The grant's
context is held in an AsyncLocalStorage for the rest of the request and
read back with the new getUploadContext() from the provider's callbacks
(filename, onCreate, ...) and maxFileSizeFor, so per-caller naming like
uploads/<userId>/<id> works with one handler and one provider.
BREAKING CHANGE: R2BindingUploadStorageOptions is now a type alias with
no index signature, so an option the provider does not declare is a type
error. authorize's return type is now UploadAuthorizeResult
(boolean | Response | UploadGrant).

Review fixes for #1044. - authorize could admit any object with a `context` key, inherited or beside `valid: false`. A grant now comes only from createUploadContext<Context>().grant(value), an opaque token checked by WeakMap membership; anything else is denied (403). - getUploadContext(): unknown is replaced by the typed UploadContext's get(), which throws when the request was not admitted with one of its grants instead of returning an ambiguous undefined. The docs and tests need no casts. - maxFileSizeFor reads the granted value from a typed `granted` field on UploadSizeContext; the AsyncLocalStorage only serves provider callbacks. - The gate moves into runGate(), which owns the try/catch and returns the refusal or the grant, so fetch is check, gate, run. - A Response from authorize gains Tus-Resumable on a TUS route when it has none, and its docs say it is for 4xx/5xx refusals. BREAKING CHANGE: getUploadContext is removed and authorize can no longer return a `{ context }` object; use createUploadContext<T>(), return its grant(value), and read it with get(). UploadGrant is now opaque, and UploadSizeContext, UploadAuthorizeResult and CreateUploadHandlerOptions take a Context type parameter. require `nodejs_als` or broader Node.js compatibility because the static
`node:async_hooks` import can fail at load time. Make clear that deferring
`AsyncLocalStorage` construction alone does not address this requirement.

The `node:async_hooks` import is static, so a Worker with a compatibility date before 2026-08-04 that sets neither `nodejs_compat` nor `nodejs_als` fails when the module loads — the subpath never reaches `createUploadHandler` or `createUploadContext`, so deferring the `AsyncLocalStorage` construction would not lift the requirement. The subpath also pulls `node:stream` in through the R2 providers, which `nodejs_als` alone does not cover: `nodejs_compat` is what `@lunora/storage/upload` needs. Review: CodeRabbit on #1044
