This repository provides a shared Zsh setup for developers using WSL, macOS, or any Linux machine with Zsh and Oh My Zsh. It installs the core tooling, adds common plugins, applies a custom prompt theme, and wires in a small set of helpful aliases.
config.sh- Installs or reuses Oh My Zsh, installs the recommended plugins, and updates~/.zshrcfrom.zshrc_append..zshrc_append- Contains the plugin list, shell aliases, and environment tweaks such as the WSL-specific Docker alias override.oh-my-zsh/custom/themes/half-life-custom.zsh-theme- Custom theme used by the setup script.
- Installs Oh My Zsh when it is not already present
- Installs common plugins such as:
zsh-autosuggestionszsh-syntax-highlightingzsh-history-substring-search
- Applies a custom prompt theme
- Adds useful aliases such as
lla - Keeps the existing
~/.zshrcsafe by creating a timestamped backup before rewriting it
Make sure the following are available before running the setup:
zshgitcurl
On macOS, these are commonly available via Homebrew. On Linux, install them with your package manager if needed.
From the repository root, run:
bash config.shThen reload your shell configuration:
source ~/.zshrcTo preview what the script would do without applying changes, run:
DRY_RUN=1 bash config.sh- The script is intentionally portable: it uses the repository path instead of assuming it is run from the repo root.
- The Docker-related aliases are only activated when the shell is running inside WSL, so they remain harmless on macOS and Linux.
- You may want to replace the placeholder OpenRouter API key in
.zshrc_appendwith your real value.
