The multi-instance image starts the manager and printer instances through /etc/rc.local. On my Raspberry Pi, rc-local.service had TimeoutStopUSec=infinity. During reboot, systemd began stopping the unit but never completed it; reboot.target timed out after 30 minutes and systemd forced the reboot.

This installs a systemd drop-in with TimeoutStopSec=2min into generated images, for both single- and multi-instance variants. On the affected Pi, applying the same drop-in allowed shutdown to reach reboot.target and reboot normally.

Validation:

  • Confirmed the affected unit was held by the PrusaLink manager and printer processes in rc-local.service.
  • Verified the drop-in took effect (TimeoutStopUSec=2min) and the next shutdown reached reboot.target.
  • python -m py_compile image_builder/image_builder.py
  • git diff --check

I have not run the full image-builder workflow.
