Tools for Fetching Data from the Bombay Stock Exchange (India)
bse2r provides a zero-external-runtime, pure-R interface to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE India). BSE is Asia's oldest stock exchange, listing over 5,400 companies—including hundreds of microcap, smallcap, and SME equities not available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Unlike other solutions that rely on Python (reticulate) or scrape fragile mobile HTML pages, bse2r communicates directly with BSE's JSON web microservices using httr2.
- Pure R implementation: Zero Python or external binary dependencies.
- Dual Identifier Resolution: Query stocks seamlessly using ticker symbols (e.g.
"RELIANCE","TCS") or 6-digit numeric BSE Scrip Codes ("500325","532540"). - Real-Time Market Quotes: Retrieve LTP, price changes, day's OHLC, and upper/lower circuit limits (
bse_stock_quote()). - Trading Liquidity Metrics: Volume, turnover, Weighted Average Price (WAP), full and free-float market capitalization (
bse_stock_trading()). - Security Metadata: ISIN, trading group (A, B, T, etc.), face value, and industry classification (
bse_stock_info()). - Analytics & Corporate Filings (Planned): 52-week High/Low price records, intraday tick chart time series, and historical dividend announcements.
