Api key issue

• I set the .env file with the necessary keys, including OPENAI_API_KEY, LLAMACLOUD_API_KEY, ELEVENLABS_API_KEY
• My API keys are all functioning and have at least some credit balance
• I ran both the scripts in the tools directory
• I checked that my LlamaCloud Extract Agent and my LlamaCloud Index has been correctly created and are functioning (using the playground functionality in the UI
• I activated the virtual environment and ensured that all the dependencies are installed properly
• As a first step, I launched the docker services through docker compose up -d
• As a second step, I launched the MCP server through uv run src/notebookllama/server.py
• As a third and last step, I launched the Streamlit app through strealit run src/notebookllama/Home.py

Issue Description

My issue is on step 5, it is about running create_llama_extract_agent.py.

When i enter command "uv run tools/create_llama_extract_agent.py" there is error "ValueError: The API key is required.", but i got all 3 api keys and set them on .env, but it did not help.

Than tried to run command "uv run tools/create_llama_cloud_index.py" then i selected Quick start (did not help error "llama_cloud.core.api_error.ApiError: status_code: 401, body: {'detail': 'Not authenticated'}"), then i selected Advanced and I chose Advanced it did not work too!

Hey there @Johamania

Can you check that the spelling of LLAMACLOUD_API_KEY in your .env file is correct?

Because the code authenticates using an env variable called like that, so if that is misspelled (very easy, happened to me more than once) it won't pick it up

I can see the file is not called .env. Is this just an example for the purpose of the screenshot? If not, can you rename it to .env?

Can you try to execute:

a = load_dotenv()
print(a) # should print True
print(os.getenv("LLAMACLOUD_API_KEY", "No API key")) # should print your API key

If this does not work, it means there is some problem with the configuration of your env file.

If that is the case, I advise you export the env variables directly from your terminal.
If you are in a Linux/macOS environment, you can export the env variables like this:

export LLAMACLOUD_API_KEY='llx-***'

If you are on Windows, use:

$Env:LLAMACLOUD_API_KEY = "llx-***"

yeah you were right there is something wrong with the configuration of env file.
i exported it from terminal and it worked!!
now i will continue it

i just a junior developer and its been just a month since i learned Python
is it ok if i will ask for another help (if there will be another problems)?

after running home.py there is this problem above. Is it because of ffmpeg?

That is very weird, I tried it more than once with Windows and it always worked...
From where are you running Home.py? Are you running it from notebookllama or from notebookllama/src/notebookllama?

first one, i am running it right in notebookllama

..venv\Scripts\activate
uv run tools/create_llama_cloud_index.py
uv run src/notebookllama/server.py

Then there should not be a problem with importing modules, can you share your folder structure?
