Web: the window title names the open presentation (#1058) - #1566
Problem. The web build never sends ViewportCommand::Title, so a host that runs it in an iframe and delivers a presentation as a drop can't tell which presentation opened or whether it has unsaved changes. WordCraft, GridCraft, PhotoCraft and VectorCraft already report <document>[ •] — <App>.
Change.SlideApp::window_title() builds <presentation> — DeckCraft, with • after the name while there are unsaved changes, and DeckCraft with nothing open, from the document's existing title() and is_dirty(). sync_window_title sends it only when it changed (a viewport command schedules a repaint, so sending it every frame would keep an idle window redrawing): from SlideApp::logic, so a presentation opened while the window is hidden updates it too, and again at the end of each UI pass, so an edit made in the pass marks the title in that same pass. eframe's web runner ignores ViewportCommand::Title, so the web shell (apps/deckcraft-web/src/web.rs) writes the same text to the page title when it changes, as LightCraft's web shell does. The desktop root window's title (taskbar, window switcher) now names the presentation too. The in-app title row and View › New Window's second-window title are unchanged. ROADMAP.md has a progress-log line.
Test.the_window_title_follows_the_dropped_presentation_and_its_changes drops a presentation through the inbox the way the web build does, then checks the title after the drop, after an edit (the dot), after Save As under another name (renamed, dot cleared) and that an unchanged title isn't sent again. It fails without the change. an_edit_in_the_ui_pass_marks_the_title_in_the_same_pass makes an edit inside a UI pass and checks the dot is sent in that pass; the_window_title_drops_nul_characters covers a file name with a NUL (X11 titles are C strings).
Checked.cargo xtask ci: fmt, clippy and every test pass except start_screen_opens_the_palette_and_preferences, which also fails on main on this Mac (fonts not available); cargo xtask assets, layers and wasm pass.
Also adds my entry to contributors/people.toml for the About window.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
The application window and browser tab show the open presentation’s name followed by “— DeckCraft,” or “DeckCraft” when no presentation is open.
An unsaved-change marker appears in the title while edits are pending and clears after saving.
Titles update when presentations are opened or closed, edited, or saved under a new name. A presentation title containing unsupported null characters is cleaned up for display.
The app never sent ViewportCommand::Title, so the window title stayed
"DeckCraft" whatever was open, and a host embedding the web build could
not tell which presentation a drop had opened or whether it was saved.
SlideApp::window_title gives "<name> — DeckCraft", with " •" after the
name while the presentation has unsaved changes, and "DeckCraft" with
none open. logic() sends it whenever it changes (only then: a viewport
command schedules a repaint), so it follows opening, edits, Save As and
closing on the desktop and the web, also while the window is hidden.
NUL characters are dropped, since X11 window titles are C strings.
Fixesstorytold#1058
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The app sets its window and web page titles from the active presentation name. It adds an unsaved-change marker and uses DeckCraft when no presentation is open. Title updates are sent when the computed title changes. The pull request also adds a contributor record.

Merge Risk: Minimal · previous review 97d4f
The window title now names the open presentation, with an unsaved marker. On web, the page title is written directly, so an embedding page can read it. No merge-blocking risk remains.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 3b476
Presentation names and unsaved-change status now reach window and browser titles through display-only operations. The reviewed changes do not introduce a material security risk or expand application privileges.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The introduced exposure is presentation metadata on the native window and browser document, including visibility to integrations already permitted to inspect that document. The changed output path does not transmit document contents or add a cross-origin messaging channel.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — File-controlled title text is passed to dedicated title setters rather than HTML construction or command dispatch. The browser updates its own window document, and the reviewed title consumers do not use the text to grant authority or select document ownership.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — The caches track emitted display strings rather than becoming independent document state. Save failures retain the authoritative dirty state, recovery writes do not mark the document saved, and subsequent logic passes recompute the title. The added synchronization therefore does not weaken persistence or recovery guarantees.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the web build's window title (and page title) now shows the open presentation name, with an unsaved-changes marker, which matches the linked issue #1058 and the changeset in frame.rs, web.rs, and the tests. The title is specific and concise. It does not mention the desktop root-window title change, but that is a secondary aspect and omitting it is acceptable.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#1058] requires a viewport title in the <document>[ •] — <App> format on open, rename, and dirty-state change. At the reviewed head, SlideApp::window_title() in crates/ui-egui/src/app/frame.rs returns <presentation> — DeckCraft, adds • when is_dirty() is true, and returns DeckCraft when no presentation is active. It removes NUL characters from the title. sync_window_title sends ViewportCommand::Title only when the title differs from sent_title. It runs from SlideApp::logic, so a drop or rename while the window is hidden updates the title. It also runs from ui_end when ctx.will_discard() is false, so an edit in the same UI pass sets the marker in that pass. eframe ignores the viewport title command on web. The web shell (apps/deckcraft-web/src/web.rs) writes the same text to document.title when it changes, so the web build reports the document. The tests in crates/ui-egui/src/tests.rs cover the dropped-presentation title, the dirty marker, Save As rename, unchanged-title suppression, same-pass edits, and NUL removal. The current diff for frame.rs matches this description. I did not run the tests.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The diff against the merge base adds a contributor entry to contributors/people.toml: [people.ashokram-si] with real_name = "Ashok Ram" (3 lines). The PR description gives the reason as the About window. [#1058] requires only the web and viewport title for the open document. The contributor entry does not implement any objective in [#1058], and no test or code path depends on it. The other changes (title code in frame.rs, app.rs, lib.rs, the web shell, tests, and the ROADMAP progress-log line) support [#1058]. The contributor entry does not. This finding is unchanged from the previous review.
Resolution
Remove the [people.ashokram-si] entry from contributors/people.toml in this pull request. Alternatively, move it to a separate contributor-maintenance change that is not linked to #1058.

eframe's web runner doesn't apply ViewportCommand::Title (it only logs
it), so on the web the title never reached the page. The web shell now
writes the same window title (SlideApp::window_title) to the page's
document.title whenever it changes, as LightCraft's web build does, so
a host embedding the page can read which presentation a drop opened
and whether it has unsaved changes. The desktop window keeps the
viewport command.

ReviewerA — source-read COMMENT (not an approval)
I read the first hunks: the web build's WebShell gets a page_title field and sets the browser tab title to name the open presentation (#1058), updating only when it changes. The field is initialised empty so the first frame sets the title. That is the right shape (no set_title call every frame). I did not read the rest. Add a test, or a note on how it was checked, for a new unsaved deck, a renamed deck, and a title with characters such as < and & (the DOM title property takes plain text and is safe). I can't run the web build here.
I ran nothing and have no exact-head CI result for this PR, so this is not an approval. Where a diff was long I read its code hunks rather than every generated or documentation line.
Covered by the_window_title_follows_the_dropped_presentation_and_its_changes: DeckCraft with nothing open, a dropped deck's name, the • mark after an edit, and Save As under another name renaming it and clearing the mark; the_window_title_drops_nul_characters covers characters a title can't hold. As you say, the DOM title takes plain text, so < and & need nothing.

No blocking problems found.
The web shell now updates the page title through one sync_page_title helper, called after logic and after each UI pass, the same way the native window title is sent. An edit made in a pass now marks the browser title in that same pass.
apps/deckcraft-web/src/web.rs:182: the page title is written only when it changes, so an idle page does not touch the DOM every frame.
apps/deckcraft-web/src/web.rs:173: the call after self.app.ui(ui) also runs in passes egui discards. This is harmless because the title only changes when the document state does.
crates/ui-egui/src/app/frame.rs:53: the title uses the document's file stem, so two files that differ only by extension (Budget.pptx, Budget.deckcraft) give the same title.
Claims checked:
verified: The window title is — DeckCraft with • while there are unsaved changes, DeckCraft with nothing open, and NUL characters are dropped (crates/ui-egui/src/app/frame.rs:53-59 builds it from d.title() and d.is_dirty(), removes '\0', and returns "DeckCraft" when there is no active document)
verified: The title is sent only when it changed, from logic and again at the end of each UI pass, so an edit in the pass marks the title in that pass (crates/ui-egui/src/app/frame.rs:65-71 compares with sent_title before send_viewport_cmd; crates/ui-egui/src/app.rs:251 calls it from logic; crates/ui-egui/sr…
verified: The web shell writes the same text to the page title when it changes, after logic and after each UI pass (apps/deckcraft-web/src/web.rs:141 and :173 call sync_page_title, which at :182-189 compares with page_title and calls document.set_title only on change)
Recommendation: merge, after a maintainer's decision.

Thanks for merging main. Both notes are addressed in a12c676:
The title is now also sent at the end of each UI pass (ui_end, skipped in a pass egui discards), so an edit made in the pass gets its dot in that pass. It still goes out only when it changes. an_edit_in_the_ui_pass_marks_the_title_in_the_same_pass fails without it.
The description said the web shell needed no change. That stopped being true when the web shell started writing the page title, and it's corrected now.
The two dirty markers ( • in the window title, — Edited in the in-app title row) are deliberate. The window title follows the <document>[ •] — <App> form the other apps report to a host, and the title row is unchanged by this PR.

Preserve the file extension in the host-facing title.
DocState::title() removes the extension, including for files opened through file.openBytes. Opening Budget.pptx followed by Budget.deckcraft therefore produces the same title, and no second title update is sent. A host cannot confirm which file opened. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
Preserve the source filename for the window title, including after Save As, without changing the in-app title row.

The note on the web page title is right: the shell wrote it only after logic. In 97d4f62 it goes through one sync_page_title, called after logic and after each UI pass, as the window title is, so in the browser an edit made in a pass marks the page title in that pass. The web crate has no tests of its own; it compiles for wasm32-unknown-unknown, and fmt and cargo xtask wasm pass.
