The map screen is the second tile, reached by swiping left from the Main Screen.
IceNav supports two map types, selectable from Settings:
| Type | Preview | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Rendered | ![]() |
PNG tile-based map with street labels and full cartographic detail. |
| Vector | ![]() |
Lightweight vector tile map, faster to render and lower in storage. |
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
![]() |
Current zoom level. Double-tap the map to show the toolbar and use the zoom buttons. |
![]() |
+ / − buttons to zoom in and out one level at a time. Appear when the toolbar is active. |
![]() |
Compass rose indicating north. Rotates with the GPS heading or the digital compass bearing, depending on the rotation mode selected in Settings. |
![]() |
Current ground speed in Km/h from GPS. |
![]() |
Distance scale bar for the current zoom level. |
![]() |
Opens the main menu. |
- Double-tap the map to toggle the toolbar (zoom buttons appear, tile swiping is disabled while the toolbar is visible).
- Drag to pan freely. The map moves with inertia after releasing.
- Zoom with the + / − buttons or with a two-finger pinch gesture.
- Follow GPS — when the toolbar is dismissed, the map re-centres on the current position and resumes GPS tracking automatically.
When a GPX route or a waypoint is loaded, navigation information is overlaid on the map. The route is drawn in blue over the map. A turn-by-turn widget shows the next manoeuvre icon and the distance to the next turn.
